How does a ConsumerDirect HRA work?

Maximize the preventive care benefits

 

Your ConsumerDirect HRA covers preventive care before the health deductible is reached. Taking advantage of the preventive care benefits and wellness programs are important to maximizing the value of your ConsumerDirect Plan.

The HRA is funded by your employer

 

Your Health Reimbursement Arrangement is funded only by your employer. Employees cannot make contributions to their HRAs. Your employer decides on the level of funding for each plan year and when to release the HRA funds. Ask your Benefits Administrator for more details about the funding levels for your company's HRA program.

Your HRA helps you pay for out-of-pocket expenses

 

You can use the funds in your HRA federally tax-free to pay for any IRS-qualified medical expenses that are defined as eligible expenses in your employer's Summary Plan Document. Eligible expenses may include deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, doctor fees, and dental care. Review the Summary Plan Document for more details.

Eligible expenses can be reimbursed out of your HRA if funds are available. Keep in mind that you will be responsible for any uncovered expenses.
